'HEAR ME ROAR' - EMPOWERING WOMEN TO SPEAK - PART ONE

  • WEWORK RICHMOND STREET, 1ST FLOOR, TORONTO 240 Richmond Street West Toronto, ON, M5V 2C5 Canada (map)

Happy International Women's Day!

Let's see strong women speaking in front of your company!

Speaking habits are learned from our social environment.

If you grow up speaking English, you don't magically wake up fluent in Finnish when you wake up one morning, or Mandarin for that matter. Dialects, pacing, and how you present yourself are very culturally ingrained habits.

In 1950 the average woman was expected to 'show up looking lovely when their husband got home and not say much'. I think anyone would love to have someone make their house lovely and have dinner ready when they get home, and basically - we'd all love to have that 'wife' experience.

HOWEVER, you have to realize that women's speaking habits are learned from other women. Pacing, physical tension, body language, and how you command a space are often pretty generationally learned, and passed down from previous women in your family and surroundings.

Learning to be charismatic and powerful in front of a room is different than hanging out 'with the girls' or even collaborating in a team.

Pitching clients is different than collaboration, and requires different tools.

Come out and have a meaningful, empowering, funny, supportive experience connecting with other women, and learning some great speaking tools.

There are 10 spots available for FREE for WeWorkers, and the rest will be open to the public. If you'd like to invite your friends and make a social event of the night, that would be fantastic! Toronto's Richmond Street Location. Also - we'll have some good snacks on hand!
